solar power

If your are considering installing residential solar for your home, it is important to understand the difference between rated power and what that is compared to real power and what it is.

When installing a residential solar power kit the elements that involve your solar power system all come with a stated power rating. You can get panels that are rated from 12 watts all the way up to 200 watts and higher. These wattage figures are your rated power.

These solar cells are rated to deliver the power as advertised but you must remember that this power delivery is tested as delivering that power under ideal circumstances. The industry labels these as “standard test conditions”.

The calculations are assuming that the sun will deliver 1000 watts of potential power per sq. meter. Now, that is ideally, of course. It may be that in your location that figure could be lower so your output power will be lower too. Weather conditions and latitude can also affects you total power output.

Also, you must calculate the power loss through all your equipment such as the connecting power lines, inverters etc.

Finally, operating temperatures affect power output. You will generate and store more power at cooler temperatures. The standards test is measured at 77 degrees fahrenhiet and on a very hot roof you can expect power losses of up to 15%.

New technology is constantly improving these figures but you must always figure these calculations when deciding on the size of the system you are going to install and how much power you will ultimately need to use on a daily basis.

Our book, “Create Your Own Electricity At Home” presents all these figures just for starters and is a complete guide to help you get off the grid one step at a time…FOREVER! If you are considering residential solar power then do it right the first time and get the information you need to make an informed decision which can literally save your thousands.

Solar panels for your home that you can build yourself? Yes! You can build your own solar panels yourself. You can find the materials to build these panels on Ebay or other online solar power manufacturers. They come in a variety of sizes and most will come with some sort of instructions on how you put the whole thing together but thing about it. Why build your own solar panels for your home when you can buy them already built and ready to install? You really won’t save much by building them your self.

The price has come down by quite a bit over the last couple of years and the quality has really improved. Building them yourself you will not get any guarantee on the quality of the various components you buy. Pre-built units always come with a manufacturers warranty and many of them are warrantied for over 20 years. Also you need to take in to consideration the costs of labor of building them yourself.

I’ve just published a new article on solar panels for your home so give it a quick read. There are many products featured on this site that will show you how to build and install your own solar power system inexpensively. Do it now and save some money.

Affordable residential solar power . Have you been thinking about that lately? If you haven’t, you should and here is why. Affordable solar is now
The spikes in energy costs recently aren’t going to somehow mystically go away. We have now, or are getting close to critical mass when it comes to our energy needs. Prices will only escalate. How much are you willing to pay?

The environment. Time has come to face the music. This planet is getting dirtier by the day now that nearly all the 3rd world countries are coming of age and the thirst for oil is becoming relentless. We are close to using more oil than we produce.

A couple of good reasons for sure but the best one I can offer is good old fashioned INDEPENDENCE! Not just as your nation needs to be energy independent but you need to be as well and now you can be!

Technology has improved our capability to power our homes with affordable power and now provides various residential solar power kits for your home.

Virtually everthing in your house can now be powered with solar energy.

Affordable solar power kits are easy to install and even simpler to maintain. The cost is still a little high by some standards but that issue is getting better by the day. They are more affordable than you might think.

What is a solar power kit you may ask? How does it work? How can it benefit me? Again, those questions have become less difficult with the advancement of technology so lets explore a couple of them.

Residential solar power kits contain various modules that when put together can power everything in your house. The main source of conversion is through what is known as photovoltaic cells otherwise known as photoelectric cells.

These cells are squeezed into solar panels and placed as such so that they can take advantage of as much direct sunlight as possible. (Yes! You can even build your own! Build My Own Solar)

These cells then convert the suns energy into electricity and store that energy in very efficient batteries which can then be converted to either AC or DC power by use of power converters.

With the proper number of panels, you can supply your entire house and never pay an electric bill again. In fact, you can even sell that power back to the power company and make a profit!

You can also install solar water heating modules and also what is called a solar furnace but I have addressed those in other articles. Even things in your yard can now be all on solar energy.

There are many new solar power kit companies coming out with the latest technology that will allow you to install a residential solar power kit in your home right now.

You will see cost savings immediately and the system pays itself back quickly. There are websites detailing plans for these affordable solar power systems if you know where to look. Do yourself a favor and look into this technology now. With the ease of installation and the money you may save you too can spend that money on yourself instead of sending it to the local utility.

Energy independence can now be yours. It is not only limited to solar energy but wind as well can be incorporated which can add even more versatility to your power grid. All that is needed on your part is for just do a little research and take action! The future of solar energy is here.

solar power

Residential Solar Power still seems to be a subject that many people do not quite understand. Not that they don’t understand what it is, on the contrary. They know all about solar power and what it can do to change your life but they just don’t get the idea that it is something that you can actually put together and install yourself.

Solar power was once a power source only had by the very rich and yes, some systems can still be quite expensive depending on the size of system you need to build. Just within the last couple of years have many different companies come out with systems that are less expensive and actually put out more power than ever before. I have even seen quite a few advertisements on TV lately promoting a solar power generator you can buy and set up to run individual item in your home.

The thing is that today you can start small and scale up your system over time to meet the power needs of your home and buy doing that you can spread out the expense and get your system eventually up and running which will then get you completely off the grid. Sound good?

I just wrote an article on residential solar power that you should give a quick read and while you are hear check out all of our articles on the subject of residential solar power kits and get wise on how you can too can become energy independent.

There is light at the end of the tunnel! Scanning some new solar power reports coming out of Florida, one article in particular caught my eye.

Power Ready International’s Indoor Power System (IPS) has launched a new portable generator with some amazing attributes.

The new system does not require any gasoline, does not require a permit, can run on solar power and the internal battery can store 12,000 watts.

With the battery full, it can run for several days at about 3,000 watts and a couple more days if hooked into a 200 watt solar panel.

The system can stay fully charged and ready to use by either plugging into a conventional power outlet, hooking into residential solar power kits or windmill system or a combo of all three.

Should a hurricane or any other calamity knock out the power the Power Ready is at your command.

This is relatively new technology and the ballpark price for this unit is around $9000.

Yep, pretty steep but like I said it’s new technology with the company just opening last January.

I remember when Plasma television hit the market at around 5 grand and can now pick one up for $800 on sale so the main point here is that there is light at the end of the tunnel.

As demand increases for this product expect competition to bring the price down quickly.

Affordable solar power is making leaps and bounds just this year alone. Residential solar power kits are truly in the infancy stage and you too can build one for you home.

Solar panel kits are dropping in price almost daily and with a power generation and storage unit like the one produced by IPS it won’t be long unitl getting off the grid will be practicle for everyone.
